Pat Beard

Board of Trustees

I have been a GFWI Trustee since early 2020 so my first experiences were of getting to grips with the mixed delights of Zoom meetings. These roles are much more enjoyable for me since face to face meetings began again.

I have been a member of the WI since 2016, first in a small WI that sadly suspended in 2020 and now as a member and committee member of Glevum WI.

Some years ago now I retired from a civil service administrative post at HQPTC, RAF Innsworth that was, and before that worked as a doctor in the NHS first in hospitals and then for many years in general practice.

Having worked largely with male colleagues in my previous years work it is refreshing to be working with women colleagues.

I have made jam only once many years ago and no longer have the voice to sing Jerusalem but I enjoy cross-stitching pictures and the occasional machine sewing. I do feel strongly that the WI with it’s large country wide membership has an important role to play in campaigning about the important issues that face us concerning the environment as well as other social issues.
