AS A WI MEMBER
As a WI member, you will enjoy a varied programme that is chosen by each WI; every member can contribute ideas to the annual programme of speakers, activities and events – the options are only limited by your imagination!
Each WI holds eleven meetings every year and you can also get involved in the various county and national level events and activities. You’re sure to find something that interests you!
Your membership entitles you to four copies a year of the WI membership magazine, WI Life, as well as regular newsletters and mailings to keep you up to date with all the news and events from your Federation and the NFWI. One unforgettable event not to be missed is the NFWI Annual Meeting, which brings together representatives from WIs all over the country to review the work of the organisation and vote on the resolutions that form the backbone of the NFWI’s campaigns.
HOW DO I JOIN?
To find the WIs nearest to you, please use our postcode search tool. The individual WI’s pages have details of meetings and information about how to make contact. Alternatively, you can contact the Gloucestershire Federation office for more information. The federation will put you in touch with someone who will be able to tell you more about the WIs in your local area.
Each WI can be very different so you may need to visit a few before you discover the one that’s right for you. There’s no obligation to join when you visit, but you may be asked to pay a small visitor’s fee.
We recommend you contact any WI you plan to visit before you turn up so that members know to expect you and can make sure you’re welcomed.
INTERESTED IN FORMING YOUR OWN WI?
If you and a group of friends are interested in starting a new WI in your area and know of a suitable venue for your meetings please contact the office. A WI adviser will be pleased to contact you to offer support and give you all the information you need to form a new WI.
SUBSCRIPTION RATES
The membership subscription from April 2026 is £54 annually.
(Note that WIs have discretion in how much they charge for their share of the Subscription, so their amount may be less.)
As a full member you can join additional WIs for a single payment of £27.10 per WI as a “multi-member.”
If you are joining the WI part way through the year for the first time, or you have not been a member of any WI in the past year, then you qualify to pay a pro-rata subscription depending on the quarter in which you join, as shown in the table.
