WHO’S WHO
Pat Ayres
I joined Kemble and Ewen W. I. in 1968 having married and moving into the village where my husband was born, raised and employed. So I have been a member for well over 50years! I have met some wonderful ladies during my ‘growing’ adult years which has shaped me and I am now what my life has made me! I have attended many County events over the years and in the early days regularly visited Hartpury college for cooking sessions resulting in still making the christmas pudding recipe I was introduced to there some fifty years on!
I have served on the committee taking on the officers jobs as President, Secretary and treasurer in turn having some breaks in between!!! I am currently, secretary again! We have had highs and lows in members but we endeavour to keep going and currently we have a lovely, friendly group of members. Outside of the W. I. I served on the parish council for 19years. I was a founder committee member of the village playgroup. Former secretary/chair of the village hall. I ring the bells in Kemble church and I am on the flower rota and have served several years on the PCC. I was a public governor for the 2gether NHS trust for six years. I am the founder of the local BEAT eating disorders group which has been running each month for nearly 20years. I write a village newshound column for the Wilts and Glos Standard. and I am a monthly contributor to the local Parish news. I am the Gloucestershire Chair for the Royal Society of St. George.
I am a branch Standard Bearer for Kemble and district Royal British Legion and also the branch chair/secretary. I also hold the title of a County Vice President having spent over 20 years serving on various National Committees.
>Most importantly I love being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with all the happy times and also challenges that can bring!!!!!
