BECOMING AN APPROVED SPEAKER

Only Speakers that have been approved by GFWI are listed in this directory.  GFWI operates an ‘audition’ process.  Four potential speakers are invited to give a 20-minute in-person presentation representative of their talks to an audience of WI members from WIs all around the county.  These New Speakers Mornings are usually held in Churchdown on alternate second Tuesdays of the month. 

The members evaluate the speaker according to a number of criteria and if the overall view is sufficiently positive, then the speaker will be added to the directory.  Feedback is sought every year on speakers and if there are adverse comments, then the speaker may be removed from the directory.

Some speakers will also deliver talks via Zoom and some deliver workshops if asked.

Current policy for speakers travelling from further afield is that they can only charge mileage from the county boundary.

Note that it is expected that any speaker selling books, products etc will be expected to donate a percentage of their takings to the WI.
