I joined the WI on the Isle of Wight 44 years ago when my elder son was a baby. It gave me the chance to go out and meet people. My husband’s job meant we moved around the country quite a bit and with each move I found a new WI. We were in North Yorkshire for 20 years and during that time I became a Head Teacher in Middlesbrough – a job I loved. However, WI nights were sacrosanct!

I moved to Gloucestershire in 2015 after my husband died to be nearer to my son and his family. Very quickly I located Newent Lakeside WI, joined and have made many friends there. I’ve also had time to do things at Federation level too. In spare time I’m a very keen crafter and love going on holiday.
