Despite being born in Yorkshire, I have lived all over the world as my father was in the RAF.  After gaining a degree in Environmental Science I worked for the Ministry of Defence as a Radiation Safety adviser: the first woman in this role in Devonport Dockyard!  Later I worked for the Central Electricity Generating Board (and all its successors after privatisation in 1990) in many roles, including technical assistant to the Chief Executive, department manager at a local power station, then back to HQ to roles in business planning, finance and procurement. 

I joined Edge WI in 2010 and have since been committee member, President and Secretary. I also joined Randwick WI in 2025. I became GFWI Archivist and a member of the Board of Trustees in 2020.  I am also on the Office and Finance Committee, the Marketing Team and the Website implementation team.
