I moved to Cheltenham in 1981 at that time I was a member of Housewives’ Register. Once my daughter had gone to university I was looking for another challenge. Round about 1997 my friend suggested I join our local WI-Marle Hill and since then I have never looked back. Almost from the moment I walked through the door I was on the committee, made Treasurer and following that I have been President four times.

I have since been made Chairman of the Leisure Committee for the county followed by joining The Board of Trustees.

The Leisure Committee covers a multitude of activities including various sports and special events…I love putting forward new ideas. Life is never dull! Between my WI involvement, I play badminton, run a supper club, love gardening, cooking and craft. I still work, stretching people’s finished needlepoint and making them up into cushions, bags stool coverings etc.

Through the WI I have met so many interesting people and tackled tasks that I would never have done before.

I believe, that it is not what the WI can do for you but what you can do for the WI.
