WHO’S WHO
The Trustees of the Federation are elected biennially by the members of Gloucestershire Federation. The Board of Trustees is responsible for furthering the WI movement and has a legal obligation to run its affairs within the values and object of the National Federation and within Charity Law. The Board represents the NFWI within the Federation and co-ordinates the work of the WI in Gloucestershire.
Any member can be nominated as a Trustee by a Gloucestershire WI and all of the Trustees work on a voluntary basis but are entitled to claim travel costs and other expenses such as postage etc. Every WI is linked to a nominated WI Adviser who is available to assist the WIs whenever required and keep the WIs informed of developments and events in the area.
The Board of Trustees organises and coordinates:
- the work of the Federation sub committees to ensure a wide range of events, outings and opportunities are provided for the benefit of members
- WI House, the Federation office and the staff who work there
- the springtime Annual Council Meeting and a number of other major events for members during the year
- the content and production of the monthly Federation newsletter
- the Federation archives
The Board is always keen to promote the WI whenever possible and is constantly looking for opportunities to enhance the Federation’s reputation and increase membership.
The Trustees welcome visits from WIs who wish to learn more about the role of the Federation and its Trustees. If you would like to visit WI House, either as an individual or as a group, then please contact the office.
In addition, if you need stationery or sales items please feel free to visit the office, where you will be made most welcome. The Trustees are keen to visit WIs around the county and would welcome invitations to any special events that are organised.
